Installation

Unzip the Demo zip file and then install Demo version of ES_Rankine by clicking "ES_Rankine_e_Demo.msi" file.

If User's PC could not recognize the msi file as installation file, please install by clicking "setup.exe" file.  

 If the installation is upgrade of existing installation and has to be installed by "setup.exe", please remove the existing installation by "Add or Remove Programs" function of Windows Control Panel, and then install by "setup.exe".   This is because "setup.exe" file can not remove existing installation completely.

If installation succeeds, a shortcut icon is generated on Windows background screen, and a sub-menu under "ENGSOFT+" folder is generated on Windows Start menu.

 

Preview of ES_Rankine by Examples

Design Heat Balance can be prepared in Demo version, and Graphic Output of the Design Heat Balance can be shown.

Graphic Input window is also available in Demo version.

Smart Run is also available in Demo version, but four(4) rating class is not available as below.

1) Smart Run

Design Heat Balance for 500 MW class, 7 FW Heaters Turbine Cycle, can be prepared by three(3) steps as shown in the picture below.

 

2) Graphic Input window

The picture below is Graphic Input window for Design Heat Balance, which opens by clicking "Graphic" tab in DESIGN window.

In Graphic Input window, User may change turbine inlet steam conditions, type and feed water outlet temperature of feed water heaters, etc.   After change, clicks "Run" button for execution.   The results of the run can be shown in Graphic Output by clicking "Graphic Output..." button.

 

3) Graphic Output

The picture below is Graphic Output window of the run above.

 

4) Supercritical Pressure

Change HP turbine inlet steam condition to 242 bara, 566 oC and reheat turbine inlet steam condition to 42 bara, 566 oC in the Graphic Input window to prepare supercritical turbine cycle, and click "Run" button for execution.   The picture below is the Graphic Input window after run.

It is seen that cycle efficiency has been improved from 44.84% to 46.19% by supercritical steam conditions.

 

5) Auto Efficiency

In order to make turbine efficiency calculated automatically, select "Reheat Turbine Cycle" instead of "Reheat Turbine Cycle (Efficiency by User)" in "Cycle Type" combo box of "Start" tab, and then click "Run" for execution as shown in the picture below.

 

By the change to automatic efficiency calculation, as shown in the picture below, it is seen that turbine wheel efficiency has been improved from 86% to 88.9% and cycle efficiency from 46.19% to 46.84%..   This means that current industry practice shows better HP turbine efficiency in case of supercritical steam conditions.
